Of all the love affairs in the world, no one can ever deny that between a woman and her shoes. Whether she has a ton or just a few, most women enjoy a quality pair of shoes, making them a terrific gift from a husband or a boyfriend. Buying your wife or girlfriend a pair of shoes not only scores you points for buying her something she loves, but the right pair can show you are paying attention and you do know what she likes. If you really want to wow the lady you love, think about buying her a pair of shoes that she’ll love. How do I know what to buy? Here are a few tips to help you find a perfect pair she’ll absolutely adore.

·         Is she a shoe lover?

It’s important that you answer this question before you even set foot in the shoe store (or mouse for those of you shopping online).While yes, most women do love shoes, some women would much rather choose their own or will simply prefer something else. If your wife or girlfriend has an obvious affinity to stilettos, wedges, or flats then you’re definitely making the right choice.. If she tends to be very picky about her shoes or if she only wears a few pairs and is happy with those, you may want to look for another gift.

·         What’s her type?

Some women are at home in a 4 inch pair of heels while others are more comfortable in a pair of clogs. In order to be successful with your shoe purchase you will need to decide what her shoe style is. A great way to do this is to take a peak in her closet or start making it a point to notice what shoes she is wearing when you go out. If she has a closet full of heels, that doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t buy her flats, however, it does mean that she is more likely to appreciate a sassy pair of wedges over a cute pair of ballerina flats. When you’re looking at shoes, also take notice to what her shoes are made of (leather, paten leather, cotton, suede…), if they are ornate or simple, and what style they are (kitten heel, sling backs, or flats)?

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect shoe, but if you never take the time to figure out what size she wears, you may as well have bought a pair of two dollar flip flops. In order to make sure you buy the appropriate size you will want to do some snooping in her closet or wherever it is she keeps her shoes. Take a pen and paper with you and write down the size you find. If you find various sizes, try to find a pattern. For example, maybe she takes an 8 in sneakers but an 81/2 in heels. If you are planning on buying her heels, buy her a size that matches other heels she may own. The most important part of the size is a number which represents the length of her foot, but if possible, look for the width which is represented by a letter. Check more than one shoe.

A great way to find out what kind of shoes she likes is to go shopping with her. It may be hard, but sometimes the best bet is to tag along with her as she peruses the shoe aisle taking notice of what she tries on, what she hates, and what sizes she asks for. This is also a great way to find out if there is one pair in particular she has had her eyes on for awhile. If you find a pair while you’re out and you want to make sure you get them, run back to the shoe department or talk to the sale associate away from your wife or girlfriend and have them put the shoes on hold for you.

Once you find out what kind of shoe she really likes the only thing you have left to do is buy.
